3 Teenagers Bag N150,000 Bail For Threatening Violence

A Lagos Court on Thursday granted a bail of N150,000 to three teenagers, who allegedly brandished some dangerous weapons including cutlasses in the public and threatened violence.

The accused — Joseph Micheal, 19; Eniola Joseph, 15; and Wasiu Ojo, 15 –whose addresses were not provided, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful assembly and unlawful possession of dangerous weapons at a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court.‎

Magistrate Aro Lambo, who gave the ruling, granted the accused a N50,000 bail each with one surety each in like sum. ‎

He said sureties must be gainfully employed with an evidence of tax payment.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Anthonia Osayande told the court that the accused with others now at large, committed the offences
on or before Aug. 22 at 9.00.a.m. on Oshidero Street, Itire, Lagos.

He said the accused and others now at large, held an unlawful assembly and also displayed weapons such as cutlasses in the public, thereby causing terror to members of the public.

The offences contravened Sections 45, 51 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.‎

Section 45 provides three years imprisonment for unlawful assembly, while Section 51 stipulates two years for unlawful display of arms in public.

The case was adjourned until Oct. 5 for mention.
