Over two million pilgrims all over the world have been moved to Minna about thirty kilometers from the holy city of Maccah in preparation for Arafat day.

Prayers for Muslims and global peace dominated the intention of many in their preparation for mount Arafat which was the scene where prophet Mohammed’s last sermon was delivered fourteen centuries ago.

Pilgrims were seen rushing to the holy Kaabah for the last circumambulation before the Arafat day.

An Islamic scholar from Ilorin, Abdulrasheed Omo-Alfa used the period to call on the federal government of Nigeria to reduce the hajj fare in a bid to accommodate more Muslims and enable them to fulfil one of the Islamic religion’s articles of faith.

The 2017 Arafat day falls on Thursday 30th august, the day when all of the Muslims on the pilgrimage to mecca gather at dawn on mount Arafat and climb Jabal Al-Rahma (the mountain of mercy) in the plain of Arafat, southeast of the holy city of mecca. Eid adah is celebrated a day after world wide.
