Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau has urged Muslims to use the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to pray for the unity and stability of the country.
Lalong, in a Sallah message, admonished Muslim faithful to also practise the virtues of Islam as professed by Prophet Mohammad.
“I enjoin all the Muslims while celebrating the Eid-el-Kabir to sustain their prayers for the unity and stability of the country.
“You should practice the virtues of Islam as professed by Prophet Mohammad and continue to demonstrate the virtues of love, good neighbourliness and peaceful co-existence,” he said in a statement signed by Mr Emmanuel Nanle, the Director of Press and Public Affairs, in Jos on Friday.
The governor thanked Muslims and other patriotic citizens for their prayers during the President Muhammadu Buhari’s medical vacation in London and urged more prayers for him as well as the economic recovery of the country.
Lalong said that Eid-el-Kabir signifies faithful and sacrificial obedience to God as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, who was prepared to offer his son as an act of worship to Allah.
He expressed delight that with the deepening of the gains of democracy and the consolidation of peace and security by the APC-led government, the nation is surely on the threshold of progress.
While wishing the Muslims a happy Eid-el-Kabir, Lalong assured all citizens that the state government had put in place measures to guarantee a peaceful celebrations.
He urged the people to be law abiding during and after the celebration.
