Kano Pillars Football Club‎ on Sunday defeated visiting Elkanemi Warriors of Maiduguri 2-0 in a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match in Kano.‎

The week 37 match played at the Sani Abacha Stadium was watched by large number of spectators as usual.‎

Host Kano Pillars secured victory through 17th and 45th minute goals by Junior Lokosa and Jamilu Muhammad.

The visitors had several chances in the first half but could not score as their defence line, coordinated by Emmanuel Anyawu and Chinedu Udoji was able to hold them down.‎

Pillars captain, Rabiu Ali, also missed a penalty in the 40th minute.‎

Coach Ibrahim Musa later told newsmen that his team played well, describing it as good performance. He said his players were up against a good team, thanking them for converting some of the chances.

Speaking on the team’s next match against Akwa United in Uyo, Musa said the team would be worked upon to give a better performance.

Elkanemi handler, Ladan Bosso, commended ‎his team in spite of losing the game. He said that the team would go and prepare well for their home game.‎

Kano Pillars now has 64 points from 37 games and occupy fifth position on the table.‎
