Emir commends President Yusouffou for good relationship with Nigeria

The Emir of Daura in Katsina State, Alhaji Farouk umar, has commended the President of Niger, Alhaji Muhammadou Yusouffou, for his efforts in strengthening and sustaining the bond of brotherhood and mutual relationship between Nigeria and Niger.

Farouk made the commendation in Daura on Tuesday when he hosted the visiting president at his palace.

He said the relationship between Nigeria and Niger predated political independence of the two nations,
stressing that “we inter-marry and conduct business activities together for many years.”

The emir said President Muhammadu Buhari returned from his UK medical trip in good spirit, saying “we would continue to support his policies and programmes for the development of Nigeria and Africa.

Responding, the visiting president said he was in Daura to felicitate with people of Nigeria on the return of President Buhari from medical vacation in London.

He said the relationship between Nigeria and his country was excellent, “and we would continue to improve and solidify the bond of unity, brotherhood and friendliness between the two countries.”

He described Nigeria as a mother in Africa, adding that Nigeria occupied important positions in Africa’s affairs, as well as globally, hence the need for cooperation, collective bargain and mutual understanding.

The Nigerien president was conducted round historical sites in Daura, including the popular Daurama Palace and the Kusugu well founded by legendary queen Daurama.

The Emir of Daura then presented a gift of an arewa breed of horse to the president.
