The National Council of Women’s Societies (NCWS) has commended the efforts of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in its counter-terrorism efforts in the North-East and other forms of security challenges across the country.

The Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

The statement said the National President of NCWS, Dr Gloria Shoda, made the commendation when she led other members of the executive council of the union on a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, at the NAF Headquarters in Abuja.

Shoda expressed belief in the efforts of NAF toward restoration of lasting peace in the North-East, describing NAF air operations as commendable and deserving of national applause.

“On behalf of Nigerian women, we want to express our appreciation and gratitude to NAF for its noble and patriotic efforts to be a fighting force to defend Nigeria’s airspace, especially in combating the insurgents in the North-East,”Shoda said.

She also commiserated with families of officers and men of the Service who lost their lives in the line of duty.

“We offer our condolences to the families of fallen heroes who lost their lives in the discharge of their duties to the nation,” the president said.

The CAS lauded the NCWS for adding value to the society, especially as it pertained to women advocacy.
