National Youth Games: Over 120 athletes to feature for Kwara state

Tunde Kazeem, Kwara State Director of Sports on Wednesday said that the state would be presenting over 120 athletes at the forth coming National Youth Games (NYG) in Ilorin.

Kazeem told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja that the state would be participating in 17 out of the 24 sports to be featured in at the Games.

He expressed optimism that the team would do well at the event following the level of grassroot sports development in the state.

“We have our area of strength in some of the sports like Badminton, squash, table tennis, athletics and even female handball.

“In the previous edition, Kwara emerged overall third best team, so I am optimistic that we will surpass that feat.

“We are ready for the tournament,” he said.

NAN reports that the event is billed for Sept. 7 to Sept. 11 at the University of Ilorin.
