Uju Nwogu, Commissioner for Sports and Youth Entrepreneurship in Anambra has tasked the state contingent to the 2017 edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) in Ilorin, Kwara, to excel in the competition.

Nwogu gave the task on Thursday in Awka.

The commissioner expressed optimism that the 130-man contingent, comprising 80 athletes and 50 officials, would be worthy ambassadors of the state at the event.

The team will feature in athletics, shot put, table tennis, scrabble, Wushu- kung fu, karate, boxing, volleyball and cricket.

Nwogu said the athletes passed through rigorous selection process, noting that she was sure that they would make the best use of the opportunity to win medals for the state at the games.

According to her, all that are necessary for the athletes to do well at the youth sports event have been provided.
