The Miga Local Government Council in Jigawa has procured and distributed drugs worth N350,000 to five mobile veterinary clinics in the area.

The Information Officer in the council, Alhaji Abdullahi Yakubu, made this known on Friday in Dutse.

Yakubu said the drugs which were distributed by the Chairman of the council, Alhaji Muhammad Agufa, were meant to enhance the performance of the veterinary clinics.

He said that some veterinary personnel were deployed to the clinics to ensure early detection of and quick response to the outbreak of animal diseases.

The spokesman said that they were directed to ensure proper utilization of the drugs.

He said the supply was part of the local government’s contribution to the State Government’s effort to enhance animal health care services and encourage livestock production.

Meanwhile, the council’s Head of Agriculture, Malam Danladi Ado, has advised herdsmen and livestock farmers in the area to make use of the mobile clinics.

Ado urged them to endeavour to take their animals to the clinics whenever they noticed any symptom of sickness in them.

He also enjoined butchers in the area to make use of the clinics to enhance the health status of the animals before slaughtering them.
