The Nigerian Army has rescued six persons who were abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in Yobe State on Friday.

A statement by the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier Sani Kukasheka Usman, noted that troops of Defence Company, 27 Brigade Nigerian Army, on Operation Lafiya Dole deployed at Kamuya, Yobe State, received the news of the abduction from some herdsmen and immediately swung into action.

According to the Army, the troops in conjunction with local vigilante familiar with the area trailed the terrorists up to Mangari village which is about 20 kilometres away from Kamuya.

After a gun battle with them, the troops succeeded in neutralizing two of the terrorists after which they rescued the abducted persons who have now been reunited with their families.

Two AK-47 rifles were recovered in the process, Channels Tv reports.
