The Lagos Water Corporation has commenced investigation into media reports on the vandalism of water pipes in some parts of the state.

A five-man committee made up of Directors and Heads of Departments have urgently begun findings to know the level of involvement and culpability of some of its staff and act appropriately.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Managing Director/CEO, Lagos Water Corporation, Engineer Muminu Adekunle Badmus on Thursday.

The LWC boss said some print media had earlier reported that the Police in Lagos, on Monday paraded four new recruits of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and seven others including an employee of the Lagos Water Corporation for vandalizing of iron water pipes.

Badmus said the Corporation is greatly concerned with these reports, adding that it is the duty of the Parastatal to safeguard its facilities because the State has invested heavily in the water sector, and it therefore cannot fold its arms and allow some bad elements to throw the utilities meant for public good into the drain.

He stated categorically that the Corporation would not stand in the way of the law taking it course, stressing that anyone found in the wrong would face the full wrath of the law.

Badmus therefore thanked the Nigerian Police Force in the State for carrying out their duties diligently in securing lives and properties, and also reiterated the Corporation’s commitment towards cooperating fully with Nigerian Police to bring law offenders to justice, he concluded.
