Ansar-ud-deed Society of Nigeria, a faith-based Organisation, on Saturday advised Muslims to pursue genuine and qualitative education that would stand the test of time and contribute to societal development.

Mrs Adijat Lawal, Chairperson, Women Council, Mararaba Branch and Abuja Zone gave the advice at the 2017 Merit Award Ceremony, in Mararaba, Karu Local Government, Nasarawa State.

The theme of the programme is the “Role of Muslimah in a Growing Economy.”

Lawal, who is also the Director of Account and Finance, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said any nation or people who decided to neglect pursuit of knowledge and go in search of money would invariably discover that those with education would govern them.

She stressed the need for Muslims to acquire sound education that would put them at par with other members of the community.

She described education was a vital tool for survival and national security considering the unfolding events nationally and internationally.

According to her, one of the objectives of Ansar-ud-deed Society is propagation of Islam and spread of qualitative education amongst all Nigerians irrespective of their religion or ethnic difference.

“I, therefore, make a clarion call to both Muslims and non-Muslims to encourage their wards to attend the University of Ansar-ud-deed, Offa, Kwara State.

“It is an educational institution anchored on our beliefs,” Lawal said.

She said that this year’s event was specifically designed to foster unity among women to ensure that the teaching of Qur’an was not compromise.

The Guest Speaker, Mrs Haulat Fuad, said women played a significant role in national development and urged government at all levels to provide conducive environment for women to realise their potential.

Fuad also advised parents and guardians to support girl-child education and inculcate virtues of Islam in their children.

The event featured presentation of recognition award to President of Senate, Bukola Saraki, Minister of Communication Technology, Alhaji Abdur-Rasheed Shittu, wife of Nasarawa State Governor, Mrs Mairo Tanko Al-Makura among others.
