The memories of the first indigenous Chief Justice of Nigeria came alive on Friday 10 November, 2017. It was to mark the 26 years remembrance of late jurist, Justice Taslim Olawale Elias.

The memorial came to a close with the 6th Annual Edition of U-15 Boys and Girls Taslim Memorial Cup, at the Campus Mini Stadium, Ajele, Lagos. The girls’ encounter took place between Fakuns Quens (Ikorodu) and Fash Girls (Lagos Island); won by Fash Girls 2 – 0; while that of the boys was between Young Stars (Kirikirii) and Sharp Shooters (Agbado), which was won overwhelmingly by 4 goals to nothing.

The events took place under the auspices of Lagos State Grassroot Soccer Association, and they were well-attended. Speaking on behalf of the association, the Secretary, Mr. Aliu Olawale Ganiyu, thanked all the distinguished guests and sundry people who in one way or the other contributed to the success of the competition.

Late Justice Elias, was the first academics to be made the Chief Justice of Nigeria, having been a Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Lagos. The chairman of the association, Rev. Paul Freeman and other members of the executive committee were on ground to make the advent a memorable one for the entire Elias’ family; just as they promised to make next year’s edition more colourful and elaborate, in terms of participation.
