Car Dealer Sent To Prison Over Alleged Fraud,Threat To Life

A 36 years old Odunayo Owoleye, who claimed to be a Car dealer has been arrested and arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly obtaining the sum of N1,070,000 from a customer, Chidiebere Eze with the pretext to sell a Lexus RX 300 Jeep for him, but instead allegedly converted the money to his use.

from a customer, Chidiebere Eze with the pretext to sell a Lexus RX 300 Jeep for him, but instead allegedly converted the money to his use.
The accused’s arrest, according to the Police was ordered by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, in charge of Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, Adamu Ibrahim following a petition by Chidiebere Eze.
Owoleye was charged before an Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos on a three count charge of felony to wit. obtaining money under false pretence and threat to life.
Police prosecutor, Abbass Abayomi informed the Court in charge No C/80A/2017 that the accused committed the alleged crime with others still at large on 28 July, 2016 at Mile 2 Estate, Lagos.
Abayomi told the court that the accused introduced himself to the complainant as a car dealer and collected the sum of N1,070,000 from him to sell a Lexus RX 300 Jeep to him, but that instead of selling the Jeep to the complainant, the accused converted the money to his use.
He said that when the complainant confronted the accused on why he refused to sell the Jeep to him after he had paid for it, the accused warned the complainant to stop disturbing him about the Jeep or else he would do something terrible to him if he continued to pester him about the Lexus Jeep.
Abayomi said that the offences the accused committed were punishable under sections 411,314 and 168 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the alleged crime in the open Court and his counsel, Johnson Ajibola prayed the court to admit the defendant to bail on the most liberal terms, promising that he would not jump bail if granted.
Chief Magistrate, A.O Komolafe granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum who must show proof of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Komolafe adjourned the case till 14 December, 2017 for mention and ordered that the defendant be remanded at Ikoyi prison, Lagos pending when he is able to fulfill the bail conditions
