Officials of Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) have commenced physical verification of work on 2015-2016 Federal Government-funded capital projects in the North-East.
The leader of the FRC team, Mr Mohammed Zailani, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola on Thursday that the verification was in line with the mandate of the commission to ensure quality service delivery.
Zailani said that the exercise was going on nationwide in each geopolitical zone.
He added that “we inspect projects that received cash backing.
“The commission is trying to ensure that the common man on the street gets value for every kobo spent in terms of procurement.”
According to him, the team has so far inspected hospitals and road projects in Gombe and Adamawa states.
While in Adamawa, the team inspected ongoing work on the N9.2-billion Gombe-Yola road rehabilitation project and 10 other projects at Federal Medical Centre, Yola.
