SON committed to prosecuting importers of substandard products

The Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON),has reiterated its commitment to prosecute, according to law, all violators of rules and regulations on importation and exportation.

The Kano and Jigawa States Coordinator of SON, Alhaji Yunusa Mohammed said this while briefing newsmen in Kano on Monday.

According to him, SON conducted surveillance on Oct. 30, at Karaye Local Government and confiscated 712 copper sugars that did not contain vitamin A and with high value of colour.

“We sealed the warehouse and arrested the suspects and took them to court,’’ he said.

The coordinator said that the suspects were arraigned at a Federal High Court sitting in Kano, presided by Justice Jude Dakat and the case was adjourned to Dec. 13, for mention.
