The Lagos State Government has launched uniform for staff of the Motor Vehicle Administration Agency, MVAA, as part of rebranding the agency for effective performance and warding off touts.

Acting Commissioner for Transportation, Prince Anofiu Elegushi launched the new uniform for MVAA on Thursday at the State Government Secretariat, Alausa, in Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

He charged the officers to ensure that activities of touts were reduced to the barest minimum.

“There is need to reduce activities of these touts that manipulate our process. Gone are the days when customers cannot identify our staff. You must ensure that you are clean always,” he said.

General Manager, MVAA, Lateef Lawal said recently, the state government enacted a Service Charter Policy as a vehicle for a systematic  and effective service delivery to conform to world best practices.

“In the light of the above, the Motor Vehicle Administration Agency designed a more customer focused approach to service delivery by embarking on a brand identity that will make the agency stand out distinctively.

“This led to the concept of re-branding with a view to achieving a corporate image and boosting the public image of the agency. The process started by adopting a more meaningful vision/mission statement in line with the Administration Service Charter policy,” he said.

Lawal stated that the offices were given a facelift in line with the new vision while members of staff were being trained and re-trained so that they could key into the vision and mission for a more effective service delivery.

The General Manager said before the commencement of the present administration, activities at the MVAA were largely unknown, as people erroneously assumed that driver’s licenses were issued by the FRSC “but on the contrary, it has always been a tripartite arrangement between FRSC, MVAA and VIS.”

He added that a platform was recently developed by the agency, which is www.lsmvaa.org and that it is a platform where vehicle owners could confirm the genuiness or otherwise of their vehicle number plate and other documents on the spot.
