Alhaja Monsurat Agboola, the General Manager, Ogun Water Corporation said on Thursday that the corporation generated N145million as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) between January and October 2017.
Agboola made this known at the 2018 budget defence at the Ogun House of Assembly in Abeokuta.
The general manager said that the revenue was generated through earnings from water rates and re-connection fees among others.
She said that the corporation planned to spend N6.9billion made up of N5.1billion capital expenditure and N1.7billion recurrent expenditure in 2018.
Agboola said that N37million of the amount would be used to purchase vehicles for the commercial section of the corporation to improve revenue generation.
“We are proposing to spend N372million on provision of water supply across the state; we will expand our supply to reach more people from the current N517, 093 to N2.960 million in urban, semi urban and rural communities.
“We will also restore pipelines disconnected due to road construction thereby re-capturing existing customers within 67km in the city,’’ she said.
Agboola said that the corporation was working toward increasing its monthly revenue generation from N13 million to N25 million.
“We are hoping to increase revenue generation from an average of N13 million per month to an average of N25 million per month,” she said.
Responding, the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr Olusola Bankole, urged the corporation to ensure steady water supply across the nooks and crannies of the state.
