FSARS Team Leader Honoured With Gallantry Award

The management of Alimosho Times, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos has honoured the team Leader in charge of the ‘Strike Unit One’ at the Federal Special Anti-robbery Squad, FSARS at Adeniji Adele Road,Lagos Island, DSP Olaniyi Festus with Gallantry Award in crime bursting nationwide.

Other Senior Officers honoured for their various achievement in the provision of security to ensure Lagosians and Nigerians continue to sleep with their two eyes closed everyday included the host, ACP Austine Akika, Area Commander in charge of Area ‘M’ Command, Idimu, Lagos, Air Commodore Musbau Olatunji who represented the Commander, Airforce base, Ikeja, Lagos.

Others included Major A.C Uba who represented the Commander in charge of 9 brigade, Nigerian Army, Ikeja, Lagos and DSP Charles Odii,Officer in charge of Legal section at the FSARS, Lagos.

The elaborate event took place on 15 December, 2017 at the Santos hall at Ben Auto Place, Santos Layout, Akowonjo, Lagos during the Newspaper’s celebration of the 6th
anniversary of the creation of Area ‘M’ Command, Idimu and the 5th Security and Safety 2017 Award ceremony.

The event which attracted dignitaries from far and near also featured lectures on Community Security and Safety Partnership between Security agencies and members of the public.

In his speech at the lecture, ACP Akika appealed to members of the public to continue to assist the police with useful information about criminal activities to enable the Police serve them better, adding that the police could not do it alone since they were not spirits, but human beings like any other persons.

Speaking about the award, the Publisher/ Editor-in-Chief of the Alimosho Times, Mr Roy Jibroma said Alimosho Times yearly award was not for sale for the highest bidders, but strictly bestowed on individuals or groups who had excel in their fields after a meticulous discreet investigation of the recipients.

”We decided to honour DSP Olaniyi Festus of FSARS, Lagos for his exemplary gallantry and courage in crime bursting nationwide. The spate of goods trucks and petrol tankers hijacking and diversion along the Lagos-Ibadan-Abuja highway have reduced due to the tireless efforts of DSP Olaniyi Festus and his team.

”We thanked the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris and the ACP in charge of FSARS, Lagos, Ibrahim Kaoje for supporting DSP Olaniyi Festus and his team to succeed in their efforts to provide security for Nigerians,” Jibroma stated.
