Osun Utd opens camp for selection of new players ahead of new NNL season

Osun United Football Club on Wednesday announced its training schedule for the selection and recruitment of new players into the team for the 2018 Nigeria National League (NNL) campaign.

The team’s Media Manager, Mr Tunde Shamsudeen, disclosed this at an interview with newsmen on Wednesday in Osogbo.

“Starting from Jan. 3 to Jan. 9, the training camp of the team, which is at the Fountain University Sports Complex, will open to players to come and try-out themselves for placement in the team.

“Some invited players too will be coming for try-outs between Jan. 10 and Jan. 19, to fight for a place in the Osun United team,’’ Shamsudeen said.

He said that at the end of the training and try-out sessions, selected players would be recruited to join other remaining players in the Osun United squad.

“After the screening, the club will make the official list of the team’s players known at the end of the month.

He said the newly-selected and old players would be the ones to prosecute the club’s vision, mission and goal of gaining promotion to the Premier League division from the NNL.

Shamsudeen hinted that Adebayo Adesina, would continue as Head Coach of the team, as he had been promoted from assistant coach and confirmed as head coach, after Duke Udi left the club halfway into the 2016/17 league season.

Osun United FC ended the 2016/17 NNL season in the seventh position and is aiming for the top three position in the 2018 NNL season, in order to enable it to gain promotion to the Nigeria Premier League (NPFL).
