Firm Drags Manager To Court For Stealing Tyres

The management of C and I Leasing PLC located at Lekki Phase 1, Lekki, Lagos has dragged their Fleet assistant Manager, Akingbade Olorunfunmi, 37, before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing various brands of tyres and sold them off at give away price.

The accused was arrested by the Police at the Maroko Division, Lekki, Lagos and arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate Court, on a four-count of felony to wit, stealing.

Police Counsel, Oladejo Balogun informed the court in charge No 1/01/2018 that the accused, a native of Ondo State committed the offence on 10 October, 5 November and 22 December, 2017 at C and I leasing Plc located at Lekki phase1, Lagos.

Balogun told the court that the accused betrayed the trust reposed in him by his employer as Fleet Assistant Manager and allegedly stole their various brands of tyres and sold them off.

He said that the accused stole Ceat tyre valued at N51,000, two silverstone tyres valued at N86,000,three silverstone tyres valued at N129,000 and another three silverstone tyres valued at N129,000 before he was caught and handed over to the police.

Balogun said that the offences the accused committed were punishable under sections 285(7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and Magistrate N.A Layeni admitted him to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Layeni adjourned the case till 15 February, 2018 for mention and ordered that the defendant be kept at Ikoyi Prison, Lagos till he fulfilled the bail conditions.
