The Federal Government has vowed not to condone any further attack by rampaging herdsmen in all parts of the country.

Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), said this on Monday at a meeting with some state governors in Abuja.

He told the meeting that President Muhammadu Buhari remained committed to ensuring peace in every part of the country.

State governors present are Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Abubakar Bello (Niger), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Darius Ishaku (Taraba), and Mohammad Jibrilla (Adamawa) among others, Channels tv reports.

The Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, who was also at the meeting, was worried about the increasing clashes between herdsmen and farmers.

He, however, blamed criminally minded persons for taking the advantage of conflicts between farmers and herdsmen to cause mayhem in the country.

Mr Ogbeh also faulted the past administration for having done nothing to protect the interest of herdsmen.

He further revealed the Federal Government’s plan to establish cattle colonies to be protected by cattle rangers, as well as provide water, pasture and security for such colonies.
