Fuel dispensing at high price

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Tuesday stormed three  filling stations in Asaba, Delta, and  compelled their attendants  to sell fuel at the official pump price of N145 per litre to the public.

The students led by its President, Mr Chinonso Obasi, condemned the selling of fuel above the government approved  price.

Obasi noted that the students’ body as a major stakeholder in the price regulatory control had resolved at its last  council meeting  that fuel must sell at N145 per litre.

He said the association could not allow Nigerians to be exploited in the face of harsh economy.

He said the students had resolved to seal any filling station selling fuel above the normal price.

The filling stations visited by NANS  were selling fuel at N160 and N220 per litre respectively.

Three members of staff of one of  filling stations were arrested in connection with the over pricing and handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps.
