The Kebbi State Community and Social Development Project (KBCSDP) has disbursed N94 million as empowerment to 30 communities to execute community projects.

The General Manager of the Project, Yakubu Yeldu, made this known at the presentation of first trenche cheques to the benefiting communities in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.

” The 30 communities contributed N9.35 million as their commitment funds for the 28 community projects while the CSDP on its part gave out N84.72 million,” he said.

Yeldu said the state government had already paid its counterpart fund of N50 million in the World Bank project geared towards improving the living condition of the rural populated.

“This is a World Bank project, in collaboration with the state government and communities will have to contribute as well.

“The project is meant to better the lives of rural people through the selection of projects of their choice in their respective areas.

“I am happy to inform you that Kebbi State has already paid N50 million as its counterpart fund for community projects across the state,” he said.

Also speaking, the state Governor, Atiku Bagudu reiterated the commitment of his administration to community development.

He tasked lawmakers, commissioners and local government chairmen to carefully monitor the utilisation of the funds and the projects in their respective areas.
