The Niger State House of Assembly on Tuesday screened and confirmed four additional commissioner nominees.

The four nominees are: Isah Kanko, Duza Emmanuel, Kabiru Musa and Danjuma Sallau.

They were given the nod following the resolution of petitions against them, bringing to 18 the total number of nominees confirmed by the state House of Assembly after 14 were initially cleared on Dec. 28, 2017.

The House also passed a resolution asking the Commissioner of Police to appear before it on Monday over the increasing spate of kidnappings in Munya Local Government Area.

The House passed the resolution following a motion moved by John Bahago, representing Munya constituency, under matters of public importance.

Bahago also alleged that the policemen deployed to his local government were not helping matters as they were always in the habit of extorting money from the locals, instead of protecting them.

“The mobile policemen deployed to the LG to solve the problem of insecurity are not helping matters at all.

“Instead of patrolling, they only mount checkpoints where farmers are forced to pay the sum of N50 or more,” he said.
