Failure of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to appear at the Ogun State High Court of Justice, Ota, on Tuesday, for the second time has stalled the proceedings against it by the Balanced Measure Impact Initiative (BMII).
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the adjournment of the case, the Ogun state coordinator and Ado-Odo Ota Zonal chairman, Otunba Lookmon Odewole and Comrade Taiwo Ismail, respectively, stressed that the communities involved would no longer tolerate the estimated billings.
Odewole described it as a fraud and unacceptable.
He explaining that the company and the second defendant, the Nigeria Army, refused to accept service of the court summons served them.
The activists assured the people that justice would prevail and life would be made easier in the communities and they would all enjoy dividends of democracy.
The plaintiff counsel, Barrister Dele Babalola assured that another way to serve the suit, like publishing in the newspapers, would be employed.
Babalola promised that the company and the Nigeria Army would be made to appear at the next sitting.
The lawyer implored his client to continue the peaceful request and not to engage in any form of violence.
The court adjourned the case to March 1, 2018.
