Prison relocation: Kano state releases funds for land compensation

Kano State Government on Tuesday said it had approved N57.7 million for the payment of compensation to owners of property acquired for the relocation of Kurmawa Central Prison.

The land is acquired at Janguza village, Ungoggo Local Government Area of the state.

The state Commissioner for Information,Mohammed Garba, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council Meeting in Kano.

He said the state government had directed the release of the money to the state Bureau for Land Management to enable it settle owners of the property.

The commissioner said the state government had also approved N120 million for the provision of street lights at Galadima, Kurmi and Yan’ kaba markets in Kano metropolis.

He said approval was also given for N38.3 million to the ministry of Works for the state Roads Maintenance Agency (KARMA) to rehabilitate 10 selected roads in the state capital.

Garba said another N28.6 million was approved for the construction of drainage at Dunama village, Makoda local government area to check frequent flood in the area.
