Imam urges parents to allow children/wards to be immunised

Sheik Ibrahim Fari, the Chief Imam of Minna Central Mosque, on Friday urged parents in the state to allow their children under five years immunised against measles.

Fari spoke during the Friday sermon at the mosque.

He said that the ongoing exercise was aimed at eradicating the disease among children.

Fari said that the vaccine had no negative effect on the health of children and urged the residents to cooperate with health officials deployed for the exercise.

The state government is targeting about 1.4 million children under five years to be immunised against measles in state.

The exercise will take place in all primary healthcare centres across the state to avail mothers easy access to immunisation venues.

The State Primary Healthcare Development Agency had provided the necessary working facilities for the success of the exercise.
