Mr Ndubuisi Ogbodo, Controller of the Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS) in Enugu State has charged officers and men of the service to enhance professionalism in performing their duties.

Ogbodo gave the charge in Enugu on Friday while decorating 75 officers of the service recently promoted with their new ranks.

The controller urged the officers to always play by the rules of the service and shun any act capable of denting the image of the organisation.

While congratulating them on their promotion, he urged them to see their new ranks as more calls to duty adding that their promotion was based on merit.

In his remarks, Mr Anthony Ohanyere, the Commandant of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), also charged the elevated officers to live up to the expectations of the service and the nation.

Ohanyere commended the existing cordial relationship between the NPS and other sister agencies and pledged to maintain the partnership.

Responding on behalf of the promoted officers, Mr Chima Mecha who was elevated from an Assistant Controller to Deputy Controller of Prisons (DCP) thanked the Controller General for his support to the workers.

Mecha pledged for more dedication and loyalty to the service and the nation at large.

The event was attended by representatives of the Nigerian Ari Force (NAF), Directorate of State Service (DSS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the state Fire Service.
