Female Manager, 3 Others Sent to Prison for Defrauding Employer N250m

A Female manager with the Mind The Gap Company in Yaba, Lagos, Oluwatosin Ogundana, 36, has been arrested and arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly conniving with three others to steal various bulk recharge cards valued at N250m belonging to their employer, Mrs Ifeoluwa Fashola.

Other workers of the company arraigned in court over the alleged fraud included Ayotunde Anuoluapo, 31; Shittu Abolore, 31 and Demi Mayungbe, 26.

The accused persons were arrested on the order of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG in charge of Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, Adamu Ibrahim following a petition by the Managing Director of Mind The Gap Company, Mrs Fashola.

The accused persons were charged before an Igbosere Magistrate Court on a three-count charge of felony to wit,  stealing.

Police Counsel, Friday Mameh informed the court in charge No A/15/2018 that the accused persons committed the offence between January and December, 2017 at Mind The Gap Company.

Mameh told the court that the accused persons fraudulently collected various bulk purchase recharge cards valued at N250m belonging to their employer with the pretext to sell and remit the proceeds into their employer’s account, but that instead, the accused sold the recharge cards and converted the money to their use.

Mameh said that the fraud was uncovered when the complainant audited her account books.

He said the offences the accused persons committed were punishable under sections 412, 314 and 287 (7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the alleged crime and Chief Magistrate O.O Oshin granted bail to Ogundana in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum who must deposit the sum of N500,000 each in the Court registrar’s account.

Oshin granted bail to others in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till 27 march, 2017 for mention.

She ordered that all the defendants be kept at the Kirikiri prisons, Apapa, Lagos till they fulfilled their bail conditions.
