Turkey’s embassy building in Berlin was attacked with paint, firecrackers and a smoke bomb on Tuesday, Berlin police reported.

Guards at the embassy heard a loud bang around 6 a.m. (0500 GMT) and saw about four people in dark clothing fleeing the scene as a smoke bomb went off.

Authorities also noticed that several bags of paint had been thrown at the embassy’s wall.

The colours- red, green and yellow might have been intended to match those of the Kurdish flag.

The Kurds are an ethnic group prevalent in south-eastern Turkey.
