A group, Project LOUD, at the weekend, urged residents of Lagos State to support the State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode for re-election in 2019.
The group said Ambode’s track record of achievement is the main basis of its call for the Governor to continue his good works across all facets and sectors of the State.
Project LOUD, is an Abbreviation of Lagos of Our Dreams. The group said its desire to support Ambode for a second term in office was borne out of the fact that the Governor has been working tirelessly to transform all parts of the State in line with his campaign promises.
The Lead Convener of the group, Prince Kenny Bakare, who spoke to reporters during a spectacular display of the Governor’s achievements in office, said it was gratifying that Governor Ambode was Constantly coming up with policies and projects aimed at putting the State on a world class pedestal gears towards sustainable economic growth and development.
The display of the Governor’s achievements took place simultaneously in different locations- Third Mainland Bridge, Surulere and Maryland, and it was an awareness campaign to sensitize Lagos residents on the need to support the Governor for re-election in 2019.
“We believe that Governor Ambode has done so much for the State and the only thing we can do is to support him to build and complete the Lagos of our dream. We are calling on all Lagosians to give him their full support.
“In just two and half years in office, the administration of Governor Ambode constructed Abule-Egba and Ajah Bridges, we refer to these two bridges as capital projects and the last time Lagos State witnessed such gigantic transformation was during the military Era.
“The Governor constructed the114 inner link roads and many other road projects have been completed. He partnered with Kebbi State to plant the famous Lake Rice, all with the intention to subsidize Rice for Lagosians. He rebranded the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Nigerian Police with brand new patrol vehicles and gadgets including three helicopters; supported all security and emergency agencies in the State to respond promptly to security and emergency challenges, and as such creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, and as at today, Lagos economy is now the fifth largest in Africa.
“As we speak, many landmark projects which will totally transform the landscape of the State are ongoing including the Pen Cinema Flyover, the world class Oshodi Transport Interchange, five new Art Theatres, Epe and Badagry Marina Projects, Airport Road, Abule-Egba to Oshodi BRT lane, among others.
“What we are saying with this display is that in 2019, the meaning of Lagos is ‘Let Ambode Govern Our State Again,” Bakare said.
Also speaking, another coordinator of Project LOUD, Owoseni Olukotun, said the group which has membership across all the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the State, in a bid to complement the good works of the Governor, would soon roll out massive empowerment and youth development programmes, among other Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Olukotun said the empowerment and CSR initiatives were inspired by Governor Ambode, who has put several policies and programmes in place like the N25billion Employment Trust Fund, the N500million Disability Fund, among others, to lift people out of poverty and improve the welfare of residents of the State.
