A group of candidates preparing for the forthcoming Joint Admission Matriculation Board, JAMB examination have donated several food items to the Citadel of Grace Mission International Orphanage home in Igando, Lagos

The over 100 candidates currently attend Success Mandate Pre-Varsity l Academy which organises an annual Mandate to Save-A-Soul Project to orphanage homes.

Items donated by the candidates includes, bags of rices, tubers of yam, vegetable oil, noddles, custard, toiletries and baby care products.

Speaking during the presentation of the items to the orphanage home, Coordinator of Success Academy and Founder of Save-A-Soul Charity Outreach, Mr. Ken Anoruo said that the idea behind the gesture of mobilising the candidates to donate items to orphanage homes, is to inculcate empathy in them.

Mr. Anoruo noted that as the students prepare to enter another phase of their academic pursuit, it is important that they should be exposed to the noble goal of giving to the needy and less privileged in the society.

” We have been doing this for the past eight years and the impact has been tremendous. Through our charity organization, we encourage the candidates in our tutorial academy to donate whatever they can afford to orphanage homes.

” We do this to encourage them to develop the attitude of giving and to let them know that a little gift of love can make a meaningful impact in the life of less privileged persons”.

He also added that beyond donating to orphanage homes, the occasion is also used to give career talks to the candidates to prepare them for the tough educational and life challenges ahead of then.

Anoruo also used the event to call on JAMB to heed the call of many candidates who are clamoring for the extension of the examination date.

He noted that if examination malpractice must be totally eliminated, candidates sitting for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination must be given adequate time to prepare for the examination.

The career talk at the event was delivered by Mr. Evans Ufeli who spoke to the candidates on career paths and life in tertiary institutions.

Commending the candidates and their coordinator, Head of Citadel of Grace International Mission Orphange, Mrs Christy Obehi Iyile said that it is always a delight every year to see different set of candidates come to donate food items to the orphanage home.

” Mr Anoruo through his charity organization has been doing this every year for the past eight years. We always look forward to receiving them every year. It is really a commendable course and I believe the candidates learn empathy through the programme.

” On our part, we pray for them and we believe that our prayers has been helping a lot of them in their examinations and life challenges,” she said.

Iyile also appealed to individuals and organisations in the country to always remember orphanage homes as the needs of children in the homes are endless.
