Niger housing projects: Coordinator impressed with speed, quality

Mr Valetine Nwaimo, Zonal Director, North-Central zone of the National Housing Project, says he is impressed with the speed and quality of the 80 houses being built in Minna, under the National Housing Scheme.
Nwaimo gave the commendation on Wednesday in Minna, during an assessment visit to the site of the projects.
“We are satisfied with the level and quality of work done so far. Our visit is to assess the progress of work,’’ he told newsmen.
He said that the scheme aimed at providing 3,000 housing units across the country, was already yielding positive results.
According to him, the houses consist of 52 two-bedroom flats, 24 three bedrooms, and four flats of one bedroom each.
“You can see that work on 40 flats has reached an advanced stage. We shall encourage the handlers to sustain the tempo,” he said.
Also speaking, Malam Ibrahim Bala, leader of the project monitoring team, said that the houses were constructed with spaces for beneficiaries to make adjustments where necessary.
Also speaking, Mr Felix Appah, Federal Controller (Housing) in Niger, said that the building materials for the projects were sourced locally.
Earlier, Hajiya Habiba Ahmed, General Manager, Niger State Development Board, expressed happiness that the optimism of the targeted beneficiaries was not misplaced.
