Working to Advance Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education for African Women (WAAW) Foundation says it will provide Lagos State students training on coding to give them access to real world technology.
Ms Loveth Ubi, the Business Development Manager. WAAW said this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.
According to Ubi, the training is targeted at empowering African women and young minds to become impactful leaders, change agents and technology innovators through STEM engagement.
“WAAW Lagos Code school will bring children between the ages of 10 to 17 years from different backgrounds together and provide them access to real world technology and 21st century curriculum.
“Our novel curriculum will train participants on Mobile App Development, Web Development, 2D Animation, 3D Animation, Blockly Programming and other forms of ICT skills.
“At WAAW Foundation, we believe that young minds are plain platforms, flexible enough to receive as much and ready to take in anything new.
“It is therefore important that they have productive events around them to make them resourceful and enhance their skills in making favourable use of technology,” she said.
Ubi said the training would be different owing to its teaching methodology which was suitable for critical and creative thinking.
She said that it would also help them become community change agents by using technology to solve problems.
The training is expected to hold from April 9 to 13.
She said that the application was ongoing and would close March 31.
