An information technology hub, iStarter Hub Ltd., on Saturday said it would train 30 women on information technology to enhance their businesses.

The Chief Executive Officer, Ms Modupe Darabidan, disclosed this in Lagos.

Darabidan said that the training would be for three months.

She said that the training would be done under the organisation’s entrepreneurship initiative tagged, “’Empower Her’’.

“This is an ICT and entrepreneurship programme aimed at demonstrating the role of technology in supporting and facilitating enterprises, especially women-led initiatives.

“The programme is designed to help women entrepreneurs to understand the use of information technology and to ensure that the training positively affects their lives, families, careers, businesses and finances.

“iStarter Hub Ltd. will be conducting the training in partnership with Intel West Africa, Wikipedia and others for women from ages 18 to 35,’’ she said.

Darabidan said that women should focus on developing their ideas and seeing how far they would go in achieving their dreams.

She said that technology was a strong tool that women could use to run their businesses and have measurable impacts and values,

“When people hear technology, they start thinking about machines, space rockets, but it is actually the mobile phones that we communicate with.

“Making use of the various search engines that exist will help someone to do research and get ideas that will facilitate businesses.

“There is need to be conscious of what technology is and the essence of using mobile phones that have value to boost our operations,’’ she said.
