Football devotees in Lagos will be treated to the finest moments in football skills and thrills as the Leg Lagos Challenge debuts with 16 teams for youths between ages 18 and 23 years.
The event, organised by a frontline Sports Management firm, Donbalon Sport Commerz, a private initiative, who claim to have been working strategically for 12 years to restructure football at the grassroots.
Ladi Balogun, Director-General of the Leg Lagos Challenge, spoke with newsmen in Lagos at an interactive session to officially inaugurate the football project.
“We are resolute to make a positive difference with this championship, to create a niche for pure passion, a natural flair and fair competition among football academies in Nigeria and beyond.
“The championship would be organised in a professional manner, using quality facilities, soccer personnel, technology and the global media, with the support of stakeholders.
“With the support of the Lagos State Sports Council, we are confident of having a successful outing for 2018 and beyond,’’ Balogun said.

According to the organisers, the championship is fixed for April 2 to April 10 at the main bowl of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
“The annual festival of football academies will provide the avenue for club scouts, football managers, sports administrators and national team coaches to catch these players young.
“The competition would create a credible platform for talents to be discovered and providing that opportunity to nurture them to stardom at the local and international levels.
“There would also be a development seminar to coincide with the draws ceremony on March 31, where all interested clubs would have submitted their forms before March 28,’’ Balogun said.
The organiser added that there would be medals, trophies and cash rewards for the winners and runners-up in the competition.
