As part of activities to mark this year’s World Water Day coming up on Thursday, the Lagos State Water Corporation, LWC, has engaged members of the Children Parliament in the State to act as its ambassadors.

Unveiling the Ambassadors during a news briefing at the Water House Ijora, the LWC Chief Operating Officer, Mr Deji Johnson said the Corporation chose the children because globally, children were the most affected by water crises.

Johnson, pointed out that the choice of the children as water ambassadors was also in line with the State Government’s vision of developing the children who are mostly in secondary schools for future leadership positions.

He explained that the three-day free testing of water embarked upon by the LWC as part of activities marking this year’s World Water Day was still ongoing in the eight operational regions.

Johnson appealed to residents to connect to the Corporation’s mains to enable them access potable water.

He said a roadshow would be held on Thursday to further sensitize Lagosian on water conservation and procedures on how to connect to LWC Water.

Responding on behalf of the others, the Speaker of the Children Parliament, Raphael Ikuyinminu promised that they would be good ambassadors of the LWC.

The theme of this year’s World Water Day is : “Nature for Water.”
