FRSC: Gov. Ugwuanyi seeks feed back mechanism for effective service delivery

Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has encouraged the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to engage on feed back mechanism for effective service delivery.

The governor made the call in Enugu on Wednesday at the first quarter of 2018 Zone RS9 retreat with a theme “Emerging challenges in road safety administration’.

Ugwuanyi, who was represented by his special Adviser on Special Duties, Mr. Uwakwe Azikiwe described the FRSC as a critical government agency in the country.

He said that if its activities were controlled and regulated, Nigeria would be a better country.

Azikiwe urged them to engage stakeholders, which are the drivers on the road, on regular interactive sessions to promote a good working relationship between them and the officers of the agency.

He said that the state government would always collaborate and support the activities of the corps in the state for efficiency and effective service delivery.

The special adviser encouraged them to always talk to the people in a way and manner they would understand to promote peace and unity in the zone.

In the same vein, the Permanent Secretary, state Ministry of Transport, Mr. Ogbonna Idike commended the FRSC on the wonderful job it was doing on the roads.

Idike pointed out that the corps especially in zone nine, were doing wonderfully well adding that the state government was doing its best to support the corps.

He said that the state government had engaged the services of 300 Ministry of Transport (MOT) officials to assist the corps on traffic control.

Subsequently, the Executive Secretary, Enugu State Emergency Management Agency, (SEMA) Mrs. Nkechi Eneh commended the corps for its prompt response to distress calls.

Eneh explained that she had called them on three different emergencies in the state and the response was rapid.

In a related development, the Zonal Commander RS9 Enugu, Mr. Samuel Obayemi in a welcome address said the FRSC was specifically created to arrest the upsurge in road crashes that was prevalent in the 1970s in Nigeria.

Obayemi said that the session however seeks to address emerging challenges in road safety administration that are inimical to achieving the 2018 corporate strategic goals.

He, however, said the resolve of FRSC to become a world class organisation and pride of the public service in Nigeria had remained a strategic focus.
