Six people are dead after an explosion at a chemical plant in the Czech Republic, the fire brigade said on Thursday.

Two other people were brought to hospital with serious injuries after the explosion, which took place in the town of Kralupy nad Vltavou, 25 kilometres north-west of Prague.
