Edo University signs MoU with foreign Universities, matriculates 350 students

The Edo University, Iyamho, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, has signed Memoradum of Understanding (MOU), with two foreign Universities, for exchange programme for its students.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, made the disclosure at the University’s 2017/2018 matriculation ceremony, where 350 students were admitted to its oath.

He gave the names of the Universities as Worcester University, United States and Sunderland University, United Kingdom.

He said that the institution presently runs six programmmes since the inception of the institution in 2015.

Aluyor listed the programmes as Faculties of Arts, Management and Social Sciences, Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Faculties of Clinical Sciences, Faculties of Engineering, Faculties of Law and Faculties of Science.

The Vice Chancellor said that institution was established by the State Government to be a Centre of Excellence in line with best practices, to produce highly rated scholars and graduates, who will contribute significantly to the development of the nation.

He however warned students of the University against indulging in social vices of any kind.

“An act of gangstarism and violence will not be tolerated by the University management. It is management’s belief that students who err will be disciplined, while students who do well should be rewarded consequently.

“I want you to bear in mind that most effective way to put across your demands and grievances is through dialogue and all the established channels of communication in the university must be used,” he said.

He said that the institution is three years in its existence adding that the institution is looking forward to producing its first set of graduates.

“This is the third matriculation ceromony of Edo University and we are looking forward to producing our first set of graduates.

“My dear matriculants, you are celebrated for being the lucky ones that were offered admission. I congratulste you for bring the third set of students to take matriculation oat.

“As students of this University, I advise you to take your to take your studies seriously,” he said.

He assured the students that staff and management of the institution would provide the enabling environment for them to excel.

“The idea of excellence in academics and industry stems from the motto of the University, which is “Quality Education for Development.

“I want to assure you that the Edo State Government and the management of Edo University will not relent in their efforts to ensure that all teaching and research facilities are provided for your learning benefits,” he said.
