An Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos has sentenced a fake employment consultant, Sunday Sagacious, 29 to one year imprisonment for collecting the sum of N1,750,000 from an applicant, Oriekoso Job to secure a job for him at Five Star Shipping Company in Apapa, Lagos.

The convict was sentenced by Magistrate F.F George after she found the convict guilty of two of the four count charges of obtaining money under false pretence and stealing preferred against him by the Police at the Dolphin Division, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The convict was arrested and arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate Court in August, 2016 following a complaint by Job and he pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail.

Police Counsel, Tubi Olajide had informed the court in charge No M/46/2016 that the convict committed the offence on 22 April, 2016 in Lagos.

Olajide told the court that the convict lied to the complainant who was desperately looking for a job that he was an employment consultant and collected a total sum of N1,750,000 from him within a period of time to secure a job for him at Five Star Shipping Company in Apapa, Lagos.

He said that after the convict collected the money from the applicant, he converted the money to his use and switched off his phones and escaped before he was trailed and arrested at a hideout.

Olajide said the offences the accused committed were punishable under sections 409, 312 and 285 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

After the trial spanning about two years, Magistrate George sentenced the convict to 12 months imprisonment without an option of fine and directed that the sentence would run concurrently.
