Easter: Cleric tasks Christians on moderate celebration

Pastor Timothy Bakare of Christ Apostolic Church, Iloro, on Thursday urged Christians to be moderate in celebration of Easter festival.

Bakare, also the Zonal Supretendent of the church, gave the advice in Ile-Ife.

He, however, condemned the attitude of some Christians who are in the habit of taking a loan or borrow money for the sake of celebrating at all costs.

The cleric reminded them that Jesus Christ was contented when alive, and was not arrogant and did not go beyond his boundary, but lived moderately and disciplined which led to his success.

Bakare charged Christians to desist from wastage and extravagant lives which could lead them to debt but should cut their clothes according to their sizes.

According to him, Jesus Christ taught his disciples as well as Christians to first seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all other things shall be added unto them.

“No wonder it was difficult for His perpetrators to identified Him amidst His disciples when Judas Iscariot wanted to betray Him, but told them to arrest anyone he kissed.

“And that is why he was able to achieve His goal and objective of redeeming the whole world through His blood shed on the Cross of Calvary for the remission of our sins.

“At the end, a name was given to Him which was above every other name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,” he said.

The cleric also reminded Christians that after Easter, their wards will resume back to their schools in which School fees and other expenses will be paid.

He, therefore, urged Christians to emulate Jesus Christ’s virtue of humbleness, discipline, love and contentment, for them to achieve greatness in life and rest eternally.
