Edo Joint Account and Allocation Committee (JAAC), says the 18 Local Government Councils in the state received N2.88 billion from the Federation Account for the month of February.

Mr Crusoe Osagie, the Special Adviser to Gov. Godwin Obaseki, made this known in a statement in Benin on Thursday.

Osagie said a meeting of JAAC was attended by the 18 Councils’ bosses and presided over by Obaseki at the Government House in Benin on Wednesday.

Osagie quoted the chairman, Owan West LGA, Mr Frank Ilaboya as saying “the total receipt for the month of February shared in March is N2, 88 billion, N1.13 billion was for teachers salaries, deduction for pension is N254 million, while the mandatory deduction is N1.58 billion.

“The total funds of N1.28 billion has been shared by the 18 Local Government Councils via transfer to the councils’ accounts.

“We will ensure we do our best to deliver the dividends of democracy to those at the grassroots.

“We have promised to complement the efforts of the governor who has urged us to be dedicated, committed, transparent and accountable in discharging our mandates.” he said.
