Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe, has said that the State Government would partner with Al-Madain College of Medical Sciences and Technology, Sudan, to train more Yobe students in medical courses.
The governor made this disclosure in Damaturu, on Friday, when he received the chancellor of the university, Dr Abdallah el-Bashir, who paid him a courtesy visit.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Director General, Press Affairs to the Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego.
The Yobe State Government is currently sponsoring more than 1,400 students in various institutions of higher learning outside the country, including Sudan.
Gaidam stated that it was encouraging that Yobe had made a modest progress under his leadership despite all the security challenges in the state.
“I am happy that more people in more places are aware of our modest contributions towards educational development and the expansion of health care and infrastructure among other things,’’ the governor said.
The college chancellor said that his university, Al-Madain, would offer excellent opportunities for Yobe students, as the State Government intensified efforts on repositioning the health sector.
“We have ten academic programmes in Al-Madain College of Medical Sciences and Technology and we are excited to partner with the state to admit Yobe students to study in our university,’’ he said.
