Alhaji Nasir Gwarzo, Head, Department of Health in the council, made this known on Tuesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at Kumbotso.

He said that the council was optimistic that it would meet the target as it had already immunised 143,170 children in the ongoing exercise.

According to him, the council has also received 200,000 vaccines for the April round of the immunisation exercise.

Gwarzo said the local council has recorded tremendous success in the ongoing exercise, but noted that there were limited challenges.

He commended traditional rulers in the area for assisting and timely resolution of issues related to non-compliance and missed children.

The official however assured that missed children would be targeted and incorporated in the mop up exercise.

The state has targeted about 3.2 million children below the age of five for immunisation before the end of the year.
