The police in Sango police division of Ogun State southwest Nigeria have launched a manhunt for suspected gunmen who allegedly attacked a human rights activist at Ope-ilu in Agbado area of the state.

The gunmen suspected to be members of the Badoo cult were said to have attacked the #BringBackOurGirls activist, Mrs Ilesanmi Olukemi Motunrayo and her son for undisclosed reasons.

A duty police sergeant at Sango Police Station disclosed that a report was lodged at the station that the woman activist and her son, who have gone into hiding, had been declared wanted by the cultists.

”We are not going to fold our hands and watch a gang of hoodlums terrorise innocent members of the public. Right now we are searching for them and when arrested, they would be made to face the wrath of the law,” the police sergeant disclosed.

Investigations by PMNEWS revealed that the woman activist suffered serious injury on her right wrist during the attack and was forced to flee her home with her son following threats by members of the cult to kill her and her son.

Some residents of Ope-ilu have appealed to the state commissioner of police to come to their aid and save them from the murderous activities of the cultists.

”We are appealing to the state commissioner of police, Ahmed Iliasu to assist us in curtailing the activities of this deadly gang. We are no longer safe in our homes. Many landlords and residents have been forced to flee this area as a result of the activities of this gang. Please, help us sir,” a landlord who identified himself as Pa Adebayo Ajose told our correspondent.
