T20 Sub-regional Qualifiers: Anosike hopeful of good performance

Chuma Anosike, a former Vice-President, Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), said on Wednesday that Nigeria stood a good chance of performing well at the forthcoming ICC T-20 Sub-Regional Qualifiers.

Anosike said this in an interview with newsmen in Lagos.

“I think our chances are fairly good; the national side has in the last one year taken part in a number of competitions.

“One thing we must do is to make sure we practice regularly; this is because no matter how skilled you are if you don’t play matches regularly it will be difficult for you to do well at competitions.

“So, I think the fact that the national side has played in few tournaments puts them in a fairly good shape.’’

The event is expected to hold from April 16 to April 22 at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket facility in Lagos.

Anosike, who is also the Chairman, Anambra State Cricket Association, commended the federation for renovating the facility ahead of the qualifiers.

Ghana, the Gambia, Sierra Leone, and hosts Nigeria will participate in the six-day event.
