News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has been declared the winner of “Press Freedom Platform Award’’ organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
In a statement signed by the National Secretary of NUJ, Mr Shuaibu Leman on Friday in Abuja, the award would be conferred on the agency on May 5.
Leman noted that the agency emerged the winner of the award after the NUJ Award Committee had gone through the many nominations received from journalists and members of the public.
“The award will be conferred on your organisation at the award night and dinner on May 5, 2018.
“It will be part of NUJ’s celebration of the ‘’International Press Freedom Day 2018, “ he said.
According to him, the awards lecture will be delivered on press freedom, good governance and nation building in Nigeria.
“It will be a gathering of ‘crème de la crème’ of Nigeria’s media icons, policy makers, technocrats, political heavyweights, captains of industry, diplomatic corps, civil society and multilateral agencies,’’ he added.
