FIFA council member Constant Omari has been arrested over suspected corruption in his home country of Congo, local media reported on Wednesday.
The information is in a statement by the office of Luzolo Bambi, President Joseph Kabila’s anti-graft.
The statement noted that Omari was arrested along with two members of the Congolese football association FECOFA and a government official in Kinshasa.
The men are accused of having embezzled one million dollars meant to finance Congo’s national team and club teams.
However, the national league issued a statement in support of Omari and the others, saying the league

Omari is FECOFA president and vice president of African confederation apart from his FIFA position.
The other two arrested from FECOFA are second vice-president Theobald Binamungu and financial chief Roger Bondembe.
